FORTITUDE – NEW SINGLE – OUT NOW!

»This alternative mid-tempo song hits you with its bittersweet verse harmonies, not only to help you with the disruptive structure of the instruments but also to set the stage for a chorus that gets stuck in your head for days – both with its melody and its meaning.
The song is about deep, heavy holes that pull you in. For one person, a hole is a pit, a trap. For someone else, perhaps a welcome hideout – the hope of disappearing within it.
FORTITUDE – loosely translated: learning to live with the holes within us and around us. (tolerance for ambiguity)
Is it still resilience if I am forced to acquire it? (For example, because society is undergoing changes that restrict or endanger my freedom.) Or do we need new words for it? Or: What does it mean to be stuck between a religiously charged fetishization of the political and the wait for a savior (ideally white, ideally male, ideally a fascist)? And how can we muster courage – not just momentarily, but how can we develop sustained courage (and maintain it)?
It will be in our hands. Whether we use them to cover our eyes and ears, or whether we stretch them out toward others in search of solidarity; whether we help to dig even more pits and holes, or together ensure that some of them are filled in again.
Because there is no other place, no other time – unless we create that other place, shape that other time. But for that, we need narratives that give hope – just as the instrumental part at the end of “Fortitude” inspires hope.«
